Setting up a HoN-Team!
SOOOOO. EvilGummyBear recently asked me, if it wouldnt be a nice thing to get our own HoN-Team started.
GREAT IDEA! Dont know why we didnt think of this before.
I have been in many good and many bad teams already, and ant to share my experiences and tell you, on what a good team depends.
.As you might guess, this will take training and patience. Because you don't go from pub-games, which are played without any organization, to competitive play, which actually needs LOTZ'N'LOTZ of organization and coordination.
For Example:
-Finding out who is goin to play what role. (Carry, Semi-Carry, Ganker, Initiator, Support, Semi-Support; and not all of them are needed always)
[ROLES SHOULD BE SWITCHED FROM GAME TO GAME, at least those ppl should switch them, who are good at multiple roles]
-Setting up a strategy in the BANNING-/ PICKINGPHASE; and believe me, thats not a lot of time to set one up. (Knowing when we have to play offensive/defensive)
-Checking the last replays of upcoming opponents , to optimize our strategy.
ANd of course you need to know what you are doing (Last-hitting, Harrassing, Stacking, Pulling, Ganking etc.)
After we developed a strategy, it is the "Team Captain's" job to coordinate the team, which means that you will have to LISTEN to him, whoever it will be.
Careless about your "stats" or what you are doing at that time, you got to do what he is telling you. When the Captain says "Madman go farm the top lane" or "Magmus tp mid, a teamfight is starting here" or "Bubbles initiate on them", then you got to do that. (wars are no pub-shit where everyone is doing what he likes to...)
Most important thing: Respecting each other and no flaming; a team that argues is unstable and not a team
If we can master these points, we are going to be a pretty acceptable team. But it will take time.
Unfortunately i am in Italy from Friday (tomorrow) to saturday next week, so it will need to wait, unless you want to get something started on your own and i will join l8er. =)
Hope you like the idea.

Re: Setting up a HoN-Team!
Seems like a decent idea. I would be willing to try it out but only if people actually do as the captain says. (prob going to be you dvn) It could be a lot of fun on one hand but on the other we could just get stomped. Whoever is playing support will have to realize that they prob won't finish more then their boots and maybe 1 other item before the end of the game because they will be warding/stacking all game long.
I think maybe before we do it, we should make sure everyone knows exactly what each roll is and how it is played. Good ward spots/counter ward spots and things like that. I could use a brush up on a few of the rolls myself. Also Item pick ups for heroes would prob be good to go over.

Re: Setting up a HoN-Team!
Good point Nero. I will set up a map.jpg with ward-spots. And thats exactly why we are going to play scrims before joining any leagues. To train. Is not a prob if we get stomped in a scrim. we wont lose anything but will learn from it.

We need a fifth. On the bright side death isn't playing so we don't have to worry about his shit on our team.

Prox has not visited the forum for a while and I have not seen Asher on here yet
Re: Setting up a HoN-Team!
Well then tough luck for them.
Also, proxzee thinks that pyro is not under any circumstance a support hero. He also thinks codex is the best build on it. So.......yeah not sure if he would be good for the "doing your job based on your hero and what the captain says" part of a 5 man team.

Re: Setting up a HoN-Team!
Well then maybe you should look into recruiting someone from HoN
Especially people you play with in Solo Matchmaking.
I would love to join up but we all know that is a terrible idea but if you need a stand in to fill a team I am always there, but good luck on finding the 5th

Re: Setting up a HoN-Team!
Yeah finding people to join the clan in solo matchmaking is impossible. Well finding them isn't hard, the hard part is knowing if they are actually decent players for a 5 man team. A lot of people are not in clans on hon because they cant play on a legit team very well. Not only that some games really bad people get really good scores and its just luck that they do well. Even at 1600+ there is terrible players. Recruiting them would be ok if we were not recruiting them solely for a team style of play.

Re: Setting up a HoN-Team!
You have to start somewhere
Usually the best way to start is find someone you LIKE in solo matchmaking
Friend them
Do Team Matchmaking with them for one or two games to see how they are under different circumstances
Then introduce them to the clan idea highlighting the competitive angle.
Try also to lane with them when you do the Team Matchmaking where you guide or let them guide and you follow.

Re: Setting up a HoN-Team!
Dont be a lazy ass all your life.
All you actually doing is playing a game with someone.
How the frak can you consider that work?

Re: Setting up a HoN-Team!
Ideally you want to have a couple practice runs to get everyone up to speed
From there you would need to chat to EGB so he can let you know.
