First off you will need to have the battle editior enabled Smile
1) Create a shortcut to RTW.

2) Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties.

3) At the end of the Target box, where the location of the program is in quotes, add this switch after the program path. So for instance, your Target line might read "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" then at the end put - enable_editor so it will look like this "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" - enable_editor press apply andthen ok

then go to your files go in to data and find the custom_locations text file open it, it should have this at the start

; custom locations , add new locations at the bottom

now copy the first entry

custom_location British Grassland
{
location 123 96
image data/menu/grass1.tga
sett_locked no
summer no
}

and paste it at the bottom now open rome, start a new campaign, use the toggle_fow command in the cheat consle to turn the fog of war off, now look for a nice spot on the campaign map, once you have found a spot put your mouse over it bring the console back up again and type this show_cursorstat and it should come up with your coordinates it will come up with something like this Pos and then two numbers, they are the coordinates remember these numbers exit the campaign and then go into options then battle editor, in that find your coordinates on the map and then press the next arrow and you will see what your map will sort of look like. then go to back to the custom locationd text file and go to your copied entry at the bottom
and change the following

custom_location your map name
{
location put your coordinates here
image data/menu/grass1.tga
sett_locked no
summer no
}
