Having a break for a couple of weeks

Post by Jack on Tue Aug 11, 2009 8:27 pm

I have decided i am having couple of weeks off, i am going on holiday sunday for a week anyway but i am feeling that something isn't right, it is still fun to play with you guys, but as soon as we have a one sided game of dota, everyone becomes depressed and moody, i might just stop playing warcraft for a while, i don't know if it is just me but we seem to have a more of a good laugh on Rome then any other game and on dota it seems to end up in arguments.
Any having said this i will probably end up coming on once or twice this week for a game of rome.

Talk to you all later.

You are quite right there Jack, for some reason DotA is a very competitive game and it often does lead to annoying results. But instead of having members feel this way we should look at how we can rectify this. So if anyone has any suggestions on how we can micro manage our games... maybe now would be a good time to bring it to light.

Maybe like Garena we can have a log or ladder.
This way we can arrange teams in such a way ensure a fair and even game.

I think to be honest sometimes its just the nature of the game.
The reason i personally get annnoyed is the fact that like, sometimes, there is nothing you can do to win. And when you find yourself in that boat 5 or 6 times in a day, it leads to a certian degree of frustration. In rome, there is always a chance until right at the end, no game is won at the start.

I think dota is just a different type of game, and me, and others, should try to accept the one sided nature of the game. Close games are what we want to see, and recently, there has been very few close games.

I think a way to rectify the problem is to indeed have a league. Then we all know where we stand and we all know what teams are fair etc etc.
It should be set out like this.

_FOR EXAMPLE_

Name __Plyd__Wins__Losses_Kills_Deaths_Assists
MGMT.....7......3........4.....17......21......8
GRIM.....12......12......0.....124......0......78

we should make a topic in the forum called results, and winners of games should post screenshots in there. or just use the screenshot topic, but i was thinking that to trawl through those screenshots wouldnt be a fair reflection on everybody because not everyone posts every screenshot, and those screenshots go back to where we were ultimate noobs.

Its just an idea guys an i dont mind sorting it out.
Give me some feedback.
thanks,
MG

You right on the money there MG.

An alternative at the same time is to start playing online more with the rest of the world.
I believe that in most cases yes, we might loose but its more fun cursing other people than each other

But a ladder / league / ranking is the way to go internally to ensure a fair game eliminating shuffle player throwing three level 10's against a level 1 and two level 6's for example.
